I'm a big fan of the Vivid Ed series of sex ed dvds. They don't shy away from describing and demonstrating all the important stuff. The Expert Guide to Positions is the fifth volume in this series.
The dvd starts with a 15 minute introduction by sex guide author Tristan Taormino. She talks about the key properties worth considering when choosing a position. These include how well they stimulate the g-spot and clitoris, how difficult the positions to get into and mantain, the depth of pentration they allow and what sort of atmosphere they create. Specific positions are mentioned in how they compare against these criteria.
The next part of the dvd is split up into a series of 5 to 10 minute sections in which specific positions and slight variations are demonstrating a number of different couples. Tristan narrates, pointing out the pros and cons of each position, and how they can be modified on the fly to increase friction or take a break without stopping entirely.
The thing I like most about this dvd is the thought that has gone into narration. It mentions which positions are good for partners of very different height, make a woman feel tighter or looser, are good dependent on a man's length and girth, are good for people with limited mobility, how well they let you "watch the show", use sex toys at the same time, which work for anal sex, which allow one partner to be more dominant, make eye contact or give easy hand access to other part of your lovers body.
Aside from the main feature, the dvd menus also have a safe sex feature (commenting on and demonstrating condoms, dental dam, etc.), two "bonus scenes" demonstrating sex using a chair and oral sex (without narration and without anything useful to demonstrate relating to positions in truth), three trailers for previous volumes in the series, and seven scenes showing the full uninterrupted and unnarrated scenes of the couples performing the demonstrations.
If there anything wrong with this dvd it's that there is no shortcut menu to the sections dealing with the different positions, or any sort of index about which have which pros and cons. The moneyshots at the end of the unnarrated demonstrations may also be a little porny for some.
This is perhaps the best of the Vivid Ed "Expert Guide" series. I've got volumes 1-5 and highly recommend all of them! |
