This was my and my husband's first experience with ropes and we're loving it! The Japanese Love Rope comes with a booklet which we read together. It gave use some suggestions for keeping play safe and some ideas to try. The rope is fairly smooth so it doesn't burn. It does tend to loosen a bit after a little while but it gives you plenty of time to play before it does and, as a newbie, this makes me feel more confident about using it.
I am finding that 5 meters is sometimes a bit of an awkward length as it is a fair amount of rope to have to pull through each time you tie a knot. I think perhaps getting two three meter ropes might be better, depending on the way you plan to use it. Be prepared to practice a bit if you haven't used ropes before.
I thought I would get the most fun out of the rope when my husband was tying me up (which I love!) but I am also finding that I get way more turned on by my husband when he is tied up! |

Having had a long-time interest in shibari (Japanese rope bondage) and bondage in general, I noticed the Love Rope product while shopping for other toys and decided to try it out.
The rope is a good, versatile length and the silky black texture is very appealing. It's pliable and elastic - my partner had no problems using it.
It feels good against the skin, even in delicate areas, and I experienced no rope-burn at all - if you or your partner are very enthusiastic and tie it too tightly, you might get some red marks, but thanks to the softness and elasticity of this rope even then they should fade quickly.
The length is ideal for tying up hands or feet, or doing shibari on the torso (e.g. 'rope bra'). However, if you want to try full-body shibari styles or suspension, this isn't long enough - I'm very petite, but only just managed to do a full-body tie.
For a beginner or if you just want to experiment, though, this is an ideal piece of equipment in every sense. Excellent for bringing a form of new, sexy power play into the bedroom! |
