Free The Nipple

Share the Love

free nippleSounds pretty simple doesn’t it, being able to free the nipple without it turning into something that has to be sexualized. Well unfortunately, we have found out recently that it is not so easy to be able to free the nipple without people becoming quite upset and even threatening over a Free the Nipple Picnic that was being held in Brisbane last weekend.

The idea started from a couple of female friends who wanted to be able to have a picnic and be able to take their tops off and feel free without it being an issue. They invited some friends through social media and then it escalated from there to stating that 905 people were attending and at least 1700 interested in attending. This just proves that there are a lot of woman that would love to have a free space to participate in freeing their nipples sometimes.

Unfortunately, as with anything controversial there were a lot of haters, keyboard warriors and a few that thought it appropriate to abuse, label and threaten people if they attended. This may have been the reason as to why the attendance level dropped to about 50 people instead of in the 1000’s going or interested.

A lot of comments were thrown out onto social media about this social picnic, the following are some of the nicest nasty comments:

  • Feminists
  • Lesbians
  • Sluts
  • Attention Grabbing Tarts
  • Disgusting Exhibitionist

What was surprising it was from both males and females. Males were offended that they weren’t invited or they believed that the organizers were being sexist by not inviting men to the picnic. Now remember it started out as a few friends having a picnic that got a little bigger. Woman were offended because well I am not really sure, reading some of the comments and it still didn’t make much sense to me.

For example: How could you do that in a public park where there are nipple - image Amy Mitchell-Whittingtonchildren, they don’t need to see such a perverted act. Mind you, there where children at this event with their mothers. Some were breastfeeding and others just running around having fun.

As you may already be aware, I am a very sexual and natural person I don’t consider myself to have any kind of label to who I am, I am a woman. So when I heard about this picnic I did not have a second thought about the fact that I would be attending. All you had to bring was a share plate, drinks and some crafty fun, and a picnic blanket.

I have no issues with baring my all at nudist beaches which are coming harder to find today, walking around my house naked, which is pretty much as soon as I walk in the door have a shower then I am free of clothing (until later when I put on some lingerie for my lover). It feels natural, free and comfortable.

When I arrived at the picnic I put my blanket down took off my top nipple - image Amy Haworthto let my girls feel the warm sun and the cool breeze run over them and it felt wonderful and what made it feel even better was because as soon as I arrived all the other beautiful woman of all different ages, races, sexualities and cultures all simply said “Hi”. No fuss, no agenda just a simple Hi!

Then it didn’t matter if you knew the woman next to you or not you just started talking and no, it wasn’t all about the fact that we had no tops on whilst in the park. It was just normal friendly banter when you meet someone for the first time. It felt comfortable and right. Sharing food and talking, like a normal picnic in the park.

There was even a woman that was walking past that didn’t know about the picnic and she asked if she could join us as she wanted to breastfeed her baby and would feel more comfortable with us. It was beautiful, yet a little sad as there are still so many people that find breastfeeding in public disgusting.

I understand that you might have a difference of opinion than any of the women that attended on the day of the free the nipple picnic and it is your right to do so. But just think about how good it feels to take your bra off at the end of the day and let them free. Now imagine being able to have the warm sun dance all over them.

Woman have to wear clothing to hide their nipples because, yes they are sexual parts of the woman’s body and have become very sexualized and today I don’t believe many women would feel safe without a top on walking down the street.

That was part of the reason behind this picnic, no-body believed that this small little event was going to let us bare our chests from this day forth. Walking through the shopping centre with only a skirt on and no-body thinking twice about it. It was for a few hours that a group of women could feel safe, comfortable and natural together without having sex come into it.

I would like to thank all the woman that attended that day and made me feel welcome, free and safe. I really enjoyed it and would do it again in a heartbeat.
