There can be many reasons why a person wants to keep their virginity until they are married or at least in a very committed relationship. For example: religious, moral or personal beliefs.
So what are you suppose to do with your natural sexual urges? We all have them, you don’t have to be sexually active to feel the urges.
There are a few different ways people are still keeping their virginity but fulfilling their needs and that is via masturbation.
Unfortunately, some people still believe that masturbation is wrong and for women you can break your hymen which means you have lost your virginity. This is not correct.
How is your virginity lost? Virginity is a state of a person who has never engaged in sexual intercourse, also known as coitus (Sheldon from the Big Bang Theory has brought this word back into today’s vocabulary) and copulation, is principally the insertion and thrusting of a male’s penis into a female’s vagina. It doesn’t say anything about the breaking of your hymen meaning your virginity is lost. Some people also decide to only participate with outer course. Non penetrative sex acts like cunnilingus or mutual masturbation, whilst still feeling and having the closeness of each other.
Whilst at college I knew a number of girls that gave and/or received oral sex only. And a few others would take it a little further and would have anal sex. In their way of thinking, they were still keeping their ‘virginity’ and if you go by the meaning of losing of your virginity, ‘penis and vaginal penetration’, they were essentially correct.
Virginity can mean something sacred to one and nothing special to another. Some may want to wait and others just can’t wait to get rid of it, each to their own and no-one should force you into their beliefs.
Your virginity is exactly that! It is yours and you should keep your beliefs if you have them and remember that it is all personal choice of what you do and don’t do. Remember to always love your body and treat it the way you want to.
