Even with all the knowledge and education we have had over the years through sexual
health class at school to the scare tactics of the Grim Reaper for the Aid’s campaign from around 1987, it is surprising to know that people are still not practising safe sex.
The safe sex messages are not only falling on the deaf ears of teenagers, but surprisingly, it is the adults also. But unfortunately, it seems teenagers are the worst offenders, which is so hard to understand.
There are television shows dedicated to Teen Mom’s (yes, it is an American show) but it is
aired in Australia. You see the hardship and the pain that a young girl and guy go through with having a child as a teenager. Majority of the time the guy will leave and the girl has to fend for herself with her child. Thankfully, a lot of parents do help their daughters and not just throw them out to the curb which does happen.
And then you have a child to raise, to feed and cloth until they are an adult. You should have a life first yourself to enjoy and learn from so that you can pass on your wisdom before you have a child.
But pregnancy is not the only thing to be worried about. STI’s, there are so many diseases and infections around that come with a life sentence. Herpes and HIV are something that you live with forever. Others you have to go to the doctors find out that you have a sexually transmitted infection and then go to the chemist to get the drugs required to get rid of it. Do you really want to go through that embarrassment?
Some people believe that there is a stigma of going to the shops to buy condoms. If you’re female you’re a slut or if you are a guy you’re just playing the field. But there are so many ways to get what you want today. You no longer have to physically go to the shops to get your sexual health items. Buy them online.
Buying condoms is not embarrassing.
Asking someone to use one is not embarrassing.
Having a healthy and long life is not embarrassing.
Waiting till you want to have children is not embarrassing.
And manufactures all over the world are trying to educate people more and more about safe sex and inventing new and exciting condoms that can increase your pleasure when you wear them.
And now thanks to Bill Gates and his $100,000 condom challenge called the “Next Generation Condom”. Australian scientists have jumped on board and are developing a condom like no other, a condom that doesn’t feel like a condom at all.
The material is designed to feel and mimic the properties of human flesh. This is possible by using Hydrogel instead of latex, which also helps people who are allergic to latex. Hydrogel also provides a more realistic feeling and texture and is strong yet flexible.
It will be like having a second skin and the main aim to this challenge is to have more people practicing safe sex.
Will this Next Generation Condom entice more people to use condoms when having sex?
We hope so as this will reduce STI’s and unplanned pregnancies.
Stay Safe!
